You might reach a point where you wonder if your account has been shadowbanned:
I’m making similar content to this channel, so why am I getting fewer views?
Why am I not getting as much traction as my contemporaries?
Is my channel being suppressed by the algorithm?
99.9% of the time the answer to these questions is that you’re NOT shadowbanned, and that’s good news!
Assuming you’re not flagrantly breaking the platform’s guidelines, running with the idea that you’re shadowbanned and trying to resolve it by starting a new channel or deleting content will only set you back.
The algorithm is not out to punish content or insert bias – it’s a robot. Its only goal is to connect content with people who will watch it. The algorithm looks for how many people are clicking on your videos and how long people are watching.
When looking at your performance and others in the same niche, it’s important to look for the differences between your content rather than just the similarities.
What do their high-performance posts have that your posts don’t?
More than likely there are things you can improve to help boost your numbers to where you want to be. For example, we identified two simple changes in Erin Gorrie’s videos that led to a 52 million view difference.

If you also want to create content for your brand with a research-backed process, my team can help.
Believing that you’re shadowbanned gives away control of your potential for virality, and you deserve that agency. Look for things you could do differently rather than what you want the platform to do for you. You will see results a lot quicker!
Related to this, I discuss shadowbanning further with podcast host Jeremy Miner here (https://www.instagram.com/reel/DA_gP2npvpr/?hl=en)–check it out!

I’ll be back next week with some really sticky retention strategies.
